Giant Mushrooms in da Yard

So I am coming home on Friday, Ihave picked up Sierra from Grandma Pats, and as I pull inot the driveway I get out to check the mail and notice something large and white in the yard across from the mailbox. So I walk over there and sure enough its HUGE mushhroom!!

Not only that, there are 2 others one just a little smaller and one normal sized.

So I collected the 2 largest mushrooms and searched my Mushroom book and resources on the internet. Turns out they are North American Puff Balls, and they are eatible. Here is a couple of pix showing you just how bug they are. The large one was 8 inches across and the smaller was 5 inches.

The 5 inch one was still young enough to have good flesh in it and was promptly added to a evening salad (yummy). But the big one was too spongy and not really good for eating.
