My day started with my mother making breakfast for me :) and warm good byes to my folks. Today I head out into California for adventure!
I wanted to visit the Carmel Cheese Shop ( http://www.thecheeseshopinc.com/ ) as it is a must visit place when in Carmel. But it opens at 10:00am so I had some time to kill.
I had heard the Carmel Lagoon was flooding houses as it could drain into the ocean as heavy equipment couldn't get down to the beach to breach the sand. So I decided to check it out.
Here you can see the sand ramp they are building to get Dozers down to the beach. |
Right were you see the 3 people standing is where the river should be flowing. Hopefully they can get it open soon and stop the house behind this from flooding.
Here you can see what used to be the parking lot for the lagoon. |
Here is the Carmel Plaza where the Cheese Shop is.
So with Cheese in hand I headed into Carmel Valley.
I ran into (well not really) a bunch of bulls and stopped for a couple of photos
As I finally got all the way through Carmel Valley I stopped for a tailgate lunch on the side of the road.
The rest of of my drive was to get as close to Yosemitie National Park as I could, and that ended up being Oakhurst just 17 miles south of the Park.
The drive up there went through some very dry country, but also very beautiful!
Tomorrow.....Yosemite!!
Cheers!
